Apply to Integrated Studies

Getting Started

1

Step 1: Learn About Integrated Studies

The Integrated Studies Major (ISTU) provides a guided pathway and allows for flexible curriculum development by encouraging and allowing course choices within a Career Focus Area. Integrated Studies is for undergraduate students who want to complete a Bachelor (BA/BS) degree that will empower them to achieve their career goals.

Learn more about the requirements for Integrated Studies and review the six Career Focus Areas.

Integrated Studies requires two capstone courses:

  • ISTU 3010
  • ISTU 4010

30 credits of upper-division in one of the six Career Focus Areas.

Depending on which Career Focus Area fits your academic and career interests the best will determine the type of classes you will take and how many credits you would have left to complete in the major.

Step 2: Meet with an Integrated Studies Advisor

To discuss more about Integrated Studies, graduation requirements, and how this major fits with your academic and career goals, please schedule an appointment with an Integrated Studies advisor.

Integrated Studies advisors offer in-person, phone, and Zoom appointments. If you live in Logan or Out of Utah, your advisor is Alex Ziegler. If you live at a statewide campus, your advisor is Rebecca Berrett. Visit the Integrated Studies Team contact page to make an appointment.

Step 3: Complete the Integrated Studies Application

If you are eligible to major in Integrated Studies and have met with an Integrated Studies advisor, complete the application. The application will give you the opportunity to share more background about your interests and allow you to select your Career Focus Area. If your advisor sees your application come through, they will change your major to Integrated Studies and you will be a part of the program.

Upon Approval

If you are eligible to major in Integrated Studies and have met with an Integrated Studies advisor, you and your advisor will develop an individualized graduation plan. This plan will be adjusted each semester based on your progress in courses and your academic and career goals. Students in the Integrated Studies program are strongly encouraged to meet with their academic advisor each semester.
