New Cadet Orientation Program

Air Force ROTC Detachment 860 invites all incoming cadets, parents, guardians, and spouses to New Cadet Orientation. At this orientation you will complete the required paperwork and receive critical information for your first few weeks as a new cadet. This is required training for incoming cadets if you are unable to attend orientation due to personal matters or schedule conflicts, please let us know via email to det860@usu.edu. Please RSVP by 1 January. Check-in will take place from 8:30-9:00am.

Orientation Will Include:

  • Commander's Call
  • Administrative Paperwork
  • Meet and greet/Question & Answer session with current cadets and cadre
  • Detachment 860 Tour & lunch!

Prerequisites

Please visit the links below.

  1. RSVP Here
  2. Complete the AFROTC Guide Applicant Admissions Process
  3. Complete AFROTC Form 28 Pre-Participatory Sports Physical Form and have signed by a licensed physician no earlier than one month prior to the start of the semester
  4. Gather and bring all required items listed below:

Required Items

  1. Social Security Card. Bring the original and we will make a certified copy.
  2. Birth Certificate. Bring original and we will make a certified copy.
  3. All prior “unofficial” college transcripts. If you have previously attended college, your transcripts can be a printed out from the school’s website.
  4. Parents/Guardians' address and phone numbers. Bring this even if parents/guardians are separated/divorced.
  5. Pre-participatory sports physical. Download and print from the prerequisites link above, or pick up a hard copy from the detachment.
  6. Conservative fitness attire to change into after lunch. 
  7. USU Student ID Card
If applicable:
  1. Eagle Scout Card or Certificate
  2. JROTC Certificate
  3. Previous Air Force, Army, or Navy ROTC enrollment. If applicable, please bring the name of the school attended.
  4. Naturalization Certificate
  5. ACT/SAT/AFOQT scores
  6. DD214. This is required if you have prior service in the military.
  7. DODMERB. If you previously had a Department of Defense Medical Evaluation Review Board (DODMERB) qualification, please notify the non-commissioned officers at the detachment during orientation.

Completion of these required items will establish the new cadet's status on the Web Intensive New Gains System (WINGS) Portal as an "applicant".

WINGS Active Status Deadline: 29 January 2024

To become active on WINGS cadets must complete an academic plan with their academic advisor's signature.
