There are many ways students can fund their internship through the IOGP. Here is a list of many scholarships available to students pursuing an internships through the IOGP.
National
IOGP Washington Housing & Travel Scholarships
The IOGP has a limited number of scholarships available annually to assist USU students with internship-related housing and travel costs. Students must be accepted in a full-time internship (over 20 hours per week) for at least one academic semester and demonstrate unmet financial need. Apply here if eligible.
McManus Washington Internship Scholarships
Pi Sigma Alpha awards four McManus Washington Internship Scholarships annually to members participating in political science internship programs in Washington, DC, for either the summer term or fall semester. Each scholarship is $2,000. Applications are due May 1.
Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership
CAPAL offers 3 different scholarships for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander interns in public service.
Hatch Scholars Program
The Orrin G. Hatch Foundation offers this scholarship to undergraduate students who have secured an internship in our nation's capital. It is designed to help students get the most from their DC experience and to learn more about Senator Hatch's leadership along the way. Orrin G. Hatch Scholarship awards are intended to be used towards costs associated with the internship including tuition, transportation, rent, and living expenses.
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Internship Program
The CHCI Congressional Internship Program (CIP) provides college students of any major with a paid placement in a congressional office for a period of 12 weeks (Fall) or 10 weeks (Summer) in Washington DC. Promising Latino undergraduates and recent graduates from across the country are selected for this unmatched leadership training program. Students gain work experience, participate in community service, and receive educational and professional programming provided by CHCI. Applicants to the Congressional Internship Program must currently be enrolled full-time and working towards their undergraduate degree in the academic period prior to participation. Recent graduates who graduate in the term immediately prior to the program session may apply. Students are not required to enroll in classes during their internship.
Other Scholarships
Stephanie Osborne Endowed Scholarship
The Stephanie Osborne Scholarship was established in her memory by her parents and her sister. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate traditional senior women who are interested in the helping professions and involved in community social issues and travel abroad. Consideration is given to single women who are U.S. citizens and who have no children. The scholarship is available through USU AwardSpring.
BA Rudolph Foundation Internship Scholarship
The B.A. Rudolph Foundation offers three internship scholarships that will be awarded to those women who best embody the mission and values of the Foundation. They will be socially responsible, progressive, and driven women of high academic and moral caliber. Dreamers, first-generation college students, LGBTQI individuals, people of color and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications and deadlines are specific to each of the three scholarships.
The Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship Program
Brown and Caldwell scholarships are available to students passionate about environmental issues. B&C offers 5 different kinds of scholarships with many targeted toward underepresented persons in the the field including minorities, LGBTQ, women in leadership, and Navajos. Scholarships are up to $5000. Deadlines are in April.
Christianson Grant
The InterExchange Foundation Christianson Grant provides awards of up to $10,000 to motivated young Americans who create and carry out their own meaningful service projects abroad. Award amounts vary between $2500-$10000 depending on length and location of the project. The application deadlines are in March, July, and October.
Critical Language Scholarship
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.
Robert B. Bailey ScholarshipThe scholarship is for CIEE global study abroad programs. Awards are between $1000-$5000. Deadlines are in October and April.
David L. Boren National Security Education Program
Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Awards are up to $20,000. The application deadline is in November.
Fulbright Students Program
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. It is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Program provides participants-chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential - with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns. Award amounts vary by program but usually cover travel and accomodations. Application are due each fall.
Turkish Coalition of America
The Turkish Coalition of America provides up to 100 scholarships per year for students of the following backgrounds: African American, Armenian American, Bosnian American, Filipino American, Hispanic American, Macedonian American, and Native American. These scholarships are awarded to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who have been accepted to a language program or university study abroad program in Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), or Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Eligible students will receive between $500 and $2,000. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Alfa Fellowship Program in Russia
The Alfa Fellowship Program is a distinguished international initiative that each year offers up to 18 accomplished young Americans, Britons, and Germans the opportunity to complete a high-level professional development program in Russia. Over the course of the program, fellows complete work placements at leading institutions, attend professional seminars, and receive intensive language training. The fellowship provides a monthly stipend, accommodation, insurance, all program-related travel costs, language training in Russia, and private tutoring in the U.S., U.K., or Germany.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, providing leadership development programs and educational services to students and young emerging Latino leaders. The Institute offers fellowships, internship programs, and other funded opportunities.
The Washington Center Internship Scholarship
The Washington Center provides a diverse selection of world-class internship programs and seminars in the heart of Washington, D.C. Completing a TWC program will equip you with the skills and confidence to thrive in a competitive global marketplace.
The Fund for American Studies
The Fund for American Studies provides at least 40 full scholarships to aid students in participating in summer programs focusing on public policy, economics, international affairs, journalism, communications, business, and government relations. The program includes internship placement, academic coursework at George Mason University, a guest lectures series, site briefings as well as professional development and networking events. The $8,950 scholarship will cover full tuition and housing costs for the summer.
The Women's Congressional Staff Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to broaden the voices and experiences of female staff on Capitol Hill. It strives to ensure more women from diverse backgrounds are able to bring their experience and knowledge to the legislative process. Because interning is so often a prerequisite to a full-time job, having women enter the pipeline at the very beginning is key to their continued success. Understanding that the high cost of living and working in D.C. is often a barrier for people seeking internships on Capitol Hill, WCSF encourages women from middle and low income backgrounds to apply.
