Things To Do

Logan Canyon in Winter

Winter

Recreational opportunities abound in Logan. Many of the more popular winter and early spring activities include cross-country, back-country, and downhill skiing. Beaver Mountain and Cherry Peak, the local downhill resorts, offer downhill terrain for those of all skill levels. For real "powder-heads" who don't mind the approach, world-class backcountry powder is waiting for you at several locations such as Steam Mill Peak, Blind Hollow, and Swan Peak. For nordic skiing enthusiast who are looking for a good workout, or just a quick ski after class, try some of the hotspots such as Green Canyon, Temple Fork, and Sink Hollow.

Fall Mountains

Fall, Spring & Summer

Late spring, summer, and fall offer some of the best opportunites to enjoy other activities such as hiking and mountain biking. Here is a photo of some grad students on the Crimson Trail on a beautiful fall afternoon. Bonneville Shoreline Trail offers expansive vistas of Cache Valley as well. Mountain biking is also very popular, and trails range from beginner to advanced – if you are just getting started take a quick spin on the River Trail, or if you are after that real rock-hopping, downhill adrenaline rush, head up to Logan Peak or up Steel Hollow. If being on the road is more your style, head out and get ready for hard ride up the canyon to Bear Lake, or enjoy a ride towards the base of the Wellsville Mountains.

Eccles Theatre

Culture

If you are looking for a cultural experience you may want to try heading to the Ellen Eccles Theatre (photo), the Caine Lyric Theatre[BROKEN LINK], or one of the university's various venues. If classic cinema tempts you, check out the Utah Theatre. If it is a Thursday or Friday night and you are aching to hear some local tunes, head over to Sultans' Tavern, The White Owl, or WhySound?.
