iClicker Frequently Asked Questions

This page is meant to answer some common questions that you may have while using iClicker.

How much do iClicker remotes cost Students?

New iClicker remotes cost about $62.95 at the USU Campus Store and come with a 5-year Reef Mobile Access. Clickers can also be purchased used or rented, if available.

Can students share or reuse their iClicker remotes?

Students can use a remote for any course that uses iClicker for the rest of their college career at USU or elsewhere. If the instructor is okay with it, students can share remotes with other students, as long as they are not taking the same course as the person with whom they are sharing.

Where do students register their remotes?

The preferred registration method is through www.iclicker.com by clicking the large Register link. The registration process is simple and straightforward. Students are asked for their first name, last name, USU email, student ID (or A#). If they have an iClicker, they can register it to their account using the ID located on the back of their iClicker.

Why do students have to register their iClickers?

Registering a clicker remote associates it with the student’s A number. Once associated, the student's grades from iClicker will sync with Canvas.

Does iClicker work with PowerPoint, Word, Keynote, PDFs, etc?

iClicker works independently of any software program or other medium you may use to present poll questions to your class. It will take a screenshot of your screen when you finish a poll to help you remember what question you were asking when you go to grade a session after it is finished.

How many students already have iClickers?

Because iClicker is used in many classes around campus, many faculty find that their students already have clicker remotes purchased for other classes.

How do students install the iClicker app on their mobile device or laptop?

Information on iClicker apps can be found at https://www.iclicker.com/students/apps-and-remotes/apps . Students may begin with a 14-day trial but will need to buy a subscription to continue using their devices or laptops.

Where do I find detailed documentation on using iClicker?

The iClicker website provides some excellent, detailed user guides and quick-start guides that should answer most of your questions about getting started with the software and hardware.

Visit iClicker User Guides for a full list of available documents.

A student says she has been participating in polls during class, but her scores aren't appearing in the grade book. What can I do?

Make sure the student has registered her iClicker and that she is using the correct frequency code during polls.

If she has registered, check to see if her remote ID appears at the top of the grade book with no name association. If that is the case, you can click on the remote ID and select the student's name from the list of registered students. You can also try to click on the student's name in the grade book and add her remote ID from the back of her remote. If you get an error, see Missing iClicker Scores from the Grade Book for Individual Students for details on how to fix the issue.
