Elevator Pitch

Students share their ideas concisely with other students in rapid fire succession. The point of the elevator pitch is to give students multiple opportunities to share their ideas and get feedback. This activity is also good for an icebreaker for students in the class to get to know each other. It is similar to the concepts of Speed Networking and Speed Dating.

Implementation

Teachers have to prepare questions or topics for students to discuss. Give students the questions or topics before class and have them come to class prepared to share their insights with other members in the class. When in class, divide them into pairs and either sit or stand facing each other. In short rounds, 60–90 seconds, students share their pitch or explanation and receive feedback or answer clarifying questions from their partner(s). Have students switch partners several times to improve their pitch or presentation.
