Certification Exams

FE (Fundamentals of Engineering)

The Fundamentals of Engineering exam, a product of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), is a computer-based engineering competency exam required of engineering majors at the end of their program as a step toward professional licensure.   • Cost: $175
  • Where: Administered in USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115.
  • Scores: Typically available 7 to 10 days after the exam.
  • When: Registration is open and available year-round. An exam may be taken only once in a calendar quarter and no more than three times in a 12-month approval period, which begins with the examinee's first attempt. See the NCEES Examinee Guide for more detailed information.

Food Safety Managers Certification Exam

The Food Safety Managers Certification Exam is to become qualified to work in fields which require safe food handling practices and is usually taken as the culmination of the USU Extension course “Food Safety Managers Certificate.” Cost to take the course is $90.  Cost to take the certification exam after the course is $20.  Information on the course can be found here: https://extensioncourses.usu.edu/product/food-safety-managers-certificate/

  • Cost: $20 (to take final exam only--this is in addition to the $90 course fee)
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • When: Weekdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm
  • Register: USU's Registerblast portal
  • Scores: Available at the end of the exam
  • Note: If a passing score is obtained, an official certificate will be sent to candidate 1 -3 weeks after exam

Kryterion

Kryterion is a global online test delivery company providing a wide range of certification and licensure exams for a number of companies and organizations (referred to by Kryterion as “sponsors”). Test candidates are usually directed to a Kryterion testing center by the company or organization that is asking the individual to certify or license.

  • Cost: Varies. Fees set by test sponsors
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • When: Time blocks available Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Register: Register as directed by the test sponsor
  • Note: Kryterion requires two forms of photo identification. Primary ID should be a state or federal form such as driver’s license or passport.

Pesticide Applicator Exam

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) Pesticide Applicator Exam is for those who are wanting to be licensed as commercial, non-commercial, or private pesticide applicators in the state of Utah. More information can be found at the UDAF website.

  • Cost: $20
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • When: Weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Register: USU's RegisterBlast portal
  • Scores: Available at the end of the exam
  • Note: Candidate must pay the appropriate UDAF pesticide licensure fee prior to registering for the exam and bring proof of this payment on the day of the test (in the form of a receipt from UDAF)

PRAXIS II Exams

Computer-based teacher certification tests, or Praxis, include content-area proficiency and certification exams in all subject areas of education. See your adviser for information on which exam(s) you may be required to take and when you should take them. Website: www.ets.org/praxis.

  • Cost: Varies, depending on exam(s) required. See Praxis registration webpage for more information.
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115.
  • When: Available on select Monday through Friday dates, approximately 8 times each month.
  • Register: online at the Praxis website http://www.ets.org/praxis/register.
  • Scores: Scores are available online approximately 10 to 16 business days after the last day of the 2 week testing window.
  • Study: Materials are available through the Praxis website at https://www.ets.org/praxis/prepare/materials. USU's School of Teacher Education and Leadership has study books available in the Education Building room 373 as well as links to additional online study resources on the TEAL Praxis review webpage.
  • Note: All registration must be done through the test company’s website. USU Testing Services cannot register you for Praxis II exams.

PSI/PAN

PSI/PAN is another online test delivery company specializing in Real Estate, Insurance, Federal and State Government, Construction, Barber, Cosmetology, and other professional licenses and certifications. PSI testing also includes exams from the PAN and Comira testing networks.

  • Cost: Varies. Fees set by test sponsor
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • When: Time blocks available Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Register: Register as directed by the test sponsor
  • Note: ID requirements also vary by testing sponsor, but at a minimum at least one form of state or federal photo ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) is required.

Meazure Learning (formerly Scantron) 

A global online test delivery company providing a range of licensure and certification exams for “government agencies, corporations, educational institutions, and trade and professional associations”

  • Cost: Varies. Fees set by test sponsors
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • When: Time blocks available Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Register: Register as directed by test sponsor
  • Exams: BOC Athletic Trainer Certification, National Interpreter Certification, Sexual Assault Nursing Exam, etc.
  • Notes: Two forms of photo ID required—primary ID should be a state or federal form such as a driver’s license or passport
