GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test is for admission to graduate level business and management programs. Website: https://www.mba.com/exams/gmat

  • Cost: $275.00
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • When: Mondays and Thursdays starting as early as 9:00 a.m. or as late as 12:30 p.m. All times are by appointment only. No walk-ins.
  • Register: Online at www.mba.com or by phone at the GMAT Call Center, 1-800-717-GMAT
  • Scores: Examinee will receive an unofficial printout of all scores except the analytical writing immediately after the test.  The writing score is included later in the official score report.  A unique link is emailed to your when your GMAT score becomes reportable.  You can expect this email within 20 calendar days of testing. Schools and programs chosen will also get their copies of scores approximately 20 days after the exam.
  • Note: Student ID is not sufficient identification. GMAT requires state or federal photo identification such as a driver’s license or passport. Examinees testing outside of their country of citizenship must present their passport.  Please see Presenting Proper ID for specific identification requirements.

GRE (Graduate Record Exam)

When a graduate program asks for GRE scores, they usually mean the General GRE only. If the school or program also requires a specific Subject GRE score (i.e. Biology), they will usually make that requirement clear in their admissions instructions. Website: www.gre.org

GRE General Exam

  • Cost: $220.00
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • When: Available approximately 5 times monthly on weekdays, starting at 9:00 a.m.  Go to www.ets.org/gre for registration information and to find dates and times.  
  • Register: Register online at www.ets.org/gre
  • Scores: Examinee sees unofficial verbal and quantitative scores immediately.  The analytical writing score and the complete "official" score report become available for viewing or printing online at the candidate's ETS account 10 to 15 days after the exam.  Colleges or universities chosen to receive scores will also get their copy electronically 10 to 15 days after the test date.
  • Notes: Student ID card is not sufficient identification--requires driver's license, state ID, passport, etc. Examinees testing outside of their country of citizenship must present their passport. 
  • Fee Reduction Program:  A GRE Fee Reduction Waiver is available to qualifying candidates.  Eligibility can be based on several factors, including financial need (as determined by FAFSA), unemployment status, and membership in certain programs which assist underrepresented groups. This waiver will pay $100 of the GRE General Test fee and/or 50% of the GRE Subject Test fee, if required.  Those registering for the GRE General Test will also receive free access to GRE PowerPrep Plus Software.

LSAT (Law School Admission Test)

  • Note:  COVID-19 caused the LSAT exam to go “online-only” in 2020.  The LSAT may still be taken online, however, as of September 2023, it is also available at approved Prometric Professional Testing Centers.

MAT (Miller Analogies Test)

A computer-based graduate school admissions test accepted by a limited number of schools and/or graduate programs. Less expensive and much shorter than the GRE, the MAT does not include separate verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing sections. Preferred by some candidates because it does not require proof of advanced mathematical skill.  See the Miller Analogies Test website.

  • Note:  As of November 15, 2023, the Miller Analogies Test has been discontinued by the Psychological Corporation.

MCAT (Medical College Admission Test)

Medical College Admission Test, the test for entrance to medical school. 

As of January 2018, the MCAT can be taken only at Pearson Vue Professional Centers.  Information about registration, test dates, and fees can be found at the MCAT website: Taking the MCAT

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language

A test of basic English language reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills used as an admission criterion (undergraduate and graduate) for those whose native language is other-than English. Website: www.toefl.org.

  • Cost: $255.00
  • Where: USU Professional Testing Center, University Inn 115
  • Scores: available for viewing online approximately 10 days after the exam. Print copies are mailed to individuals and to schools and will arrive approximately 3 weeks after exam. See full score policy at www.ets.org/toefl/score-users/ibt/scores-admissions.html
  • When: Approximately 30 dates per year, predetermined by the test company. USU participates in approximately half of the test dates. See the TOEFL website for details.
