General Questions

How do I make an appointment?

Learn how to schedule an appointment in our WC Online instructions

Who can visit the Writing Center?

Any USU student is welcome to visit the Writing Center, free of charge, for any piece of writing—academic or personal.

How will my teacher know I’ve been to the Writing Center?

After each appointment, your tutor will email you a session report, detailing what you discussed. You will need to submit a screenshot of your appointment notes to your instructor (typically in Canvas).

What should I bring and what kinds of questions should I ask in the session?

If you have a draft of your paper, we encourage you to attach it to your appointment questionnaire. Your tutor will review it in preparation for you appointment. If you haven’t written anything yet, that’s OK! During the appointment, we can address whatever concerns you have about your paper. Keep in mind that we are not here to edit your paper—we are here to help you navigate the writing process.

What if none of the Writing Center’s hours are convenient for me?

Consider using our online tutoring services if none of the in-person appointments fit your schedule. Our tutors add new appointments throughout the week, so make sure you check back for new openings often. Learn more about your appointment options and our hours and locations. If you need any other scheduling help, please contact us at writingcenter@usu.edu.

How do I cancel an appointment?

You can cancel an appointment by emailing the writing center at writingcenter@usu.edu or by logging back in to WC Online, opening  your appointment, and clicking "cancel this appointment." You can log in here. View more details in our WC Online guide.
